drs. Pol Barbé
Pol Barbé focuses on social investment in newcomers in higher education. I am the supervisor of his PhD, together with professors Ides Nicaise (HIVA).
drs. Blansefloer Coudenys (UAntwerpen)
Blansefloer Coudenys focuses on community based educational initiatives. I am the co-supervisor of her PhD, together with professors Noel Clycq (UA).
drs. Hakan Dursun
Hakan Dursun focuses on how Flemish teacher education programs prepare teacher candidates regarding ethnic diversity. I am the main supervisor of his doctorate, together with co-supervisor professor Ellen Claes.
drs. Roy Konings
Roy Konings investigates the role individual teachers play in the attitudes of children towards refugees. He has also published a study (Konings & Mosaico (2020)) in the Italian Journal of Sociology of Education, in which he investigated why the higher educated are less likely to perceive migrants as a threat. Another article (Konings & Notten, in press) in the European Journal of Communication has also been accepted for publication, in which he examined how positive or negative Dutch internet news portray refugees by means of a content analysis.
drs. Qin Mou
Qin Mou examines social justice education in Chinese teacher education, sponsored by China Scholarship Council (CSC), with prof. dr. Machteld Vandecandelaere as her co-supervisor.
dr. Nikolett Szlei
Dr. Nikolett Szlei is the PI of the Co-Lingual-S project, that received funding from the EU Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie-Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship grant.

Emilie Vandevelde focuses on preperation of teachers for citizenship education. I am the co-supervisor of her PhD, together with professor dr. Ellen Claes.

dra. Rachida Aghallaj
Rachida Aghallaj investigated the relationship between language minority parents and professionals in childcare as part of the Pro-M Project.
dr. Graziela Dekeyser
Graziela Dekeyser defended her PhD on multilingual children's perspectives on using, learning and forgetting languages in Flanders. She also acted as the interim coordinator of the Pro-M Project. I was the co-supervisor of her PhD, together with professors Koen Matthys and Gray Swicegood.
dr. Kenneth Hemmerechts (VUB)
dr. Kenneth Hemmerechts graduated as PhD at VUB with an empirical study focusing on the role of different formats of social capital in education. I was the co-supervisor of his doctorate, together with main supervisor prof. dr. Dimokritos Kavadias. Defended in 2018.
dr. Ily Hollebeke (VUB)
Ily Hollebeke (VUB) investigated family language policies in Flanders as part of the Pro-M Project. I am the co-supervisor of her PhD, together with main supervisor prof. Esli Struys. Defended in 2023.
dr. Margot Joris
Margot Joris investigated the normative approaches towards citizenship education in research, policy and practice. I was the supervisor of her doctorate, together with co-supervisor professor dr. Maarten Simons. Defended in 2022.
Msc. Fedoua Lamrani
Fedoua Lamrani is a research assistant on the ECDIS project (www.ecdis.be). She currently works as lector at the KdG.
dr. Qian Liu
Qian Liu studied multiculturalism and multilingualism in education in China with a focus on teachers’ perspectives, sponsored by China Scholarship Council (CSC). I was the main supervisor of her doctorate with dr. Zehra Fatma Colak as co-supervisor. Defended in 2022.
dr. Shelanee Theresa Ruales
Shelanee Theresa Ruales investigated how multicultural sensitivity of teacher candidates ca be improved through e-learning. I am the main supervisor of her PhD, together with co-supervisor prof. dr. ir. Wim Van Petegem. Defended in 2021.
dr. Anouk Van Der Wildt
dr. Anouk Van Der Wildt graduated as PhD at Ghent University with an empirical study focusing on the effects of school language policies in Flanders. She worked as postdoctoral researcher as coordinator of the Pro-M Project. She currently works as lector at the KdG.
